The forgiveness of sins committed after Baptism is conferred by a particular sacrament called the Sacrament of Reconciliation (also called penance or confession). The word "reconciliation" means to reestablish a friendship between. In this sacrament our loving God, through the priest, is once again re-establishing the deep relationship that God desires to have with us. To return to communion with God after having lost it through sin is a process born of the grace of God who is rich in mercy and desires the salvation of all people. .
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offerred:
4:30 PM-5:00PM, prior to the Vigil Mass on Saturday's, by appointment, and in a communal celebration once in the seasons of Advent and Lent
In the Holy Seasons of Advent and Lent Sacred Heart comes together as a community to share their faith and also to recognize a time for healing and asking for forgiveness, a time for letting go and letting God.
A communal reconciliation service provides a unique opportunity for Catholics to confess their sins and receive forgiveness. When you take part in a communal celebration of reconciliation your confession takes a slightly different form. You perform some parts of the service as a community, not as individuals. People confess their sins, they support and pray for other penitents; they are nourished by the proclamation of the Word and spiritual song, they receive the support and prayer of others, and then individually confess their sins privately to the priest. Communal reconciliation reminds us that we are all part of the Body of Christ together.
Please check in the seasons of Advent and Lent for scheduled communal reconciliation services.
