On Sunday Sept. 15th, we celebrate Hispanic Culture and Heritage at the 10:00 AM Mass. We celebrate the many gifts that Hispanics contribute to the church and community through their faith. We celebrate this in conjunction with Mexican Independence Day which is celebrated on Sept. 16th. On this weekend we identify with the Hispanic culture and heritage for giving lively witness to the presence of God. VIVA LA ALEGRIA DE LA VIDA!
On Saturday, Oct. 19th, the parish prayer group will sponsor a celebration of Our Lady of Fatima. We begin with the praying of the rosary at 4 PM; then the regular celebration of the Eucharist at 5 PM with a procession to the cafeteria afterwards for a dinner dance free for all who attend. The prayer group will also be selling raffle tickets as part of their fundraising effort for the church.
On Sunday, Oct. 13th at the 10 AM Mass, we will celebrate our Nigerian culture. Through food, dance, decoration, song, we will celebrate God's presence in the Nigerian culture and heritage. The culture of Nigeria is shaped by Nigeria’s multiple ethnic groups. The country has over 50 languages and over 250 dialects and ethnic groups. The three largest ethnic groups are the Hausa-Fulani who are predominant in the north, the Igbo who are predominant in the south-east, and the Yoruba who are predominant in the southwest.
On Sunday, Oct. 6th, the parish will host its annual blessing of the pets after the 10 AM Mass, approximately at 11 AM. Invite your family and friends. The garden area will be available for the pets of those attending the 10:00 AM Mass. This is being done in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi's Feast Day which is on October 4. Saint Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and ecology. He expressed his devotion to God in his love for all of God's creation, including animals. He not only cared for the poor and the sick among people, he even preached sermons to animals and praised them as brothers and sisters under God.
